Offset 0xE into the GPIO space of the ICH (D31F0, config space 0x58-0x5B) contains the write protect bits. 0x80 is the TBL# (pin 8 of PLCC) line of the Intel FWH and bit 0x40 is WP# (pin 7 of PLCC).
